The environmentally friendly butyl reclaimed rubber/polyvinyl chloride(PVC) thermoplastic elastomer damping materials(hereinafter referred to as thermoplastic elastomer) were prepared by the blending method. The effects of the amount of environmentally friendly butyl reclaimed rubber, the type and amount of PVC modifiers, and the amount of fillers (magnetic powder and diatomaceous earth etc.) on the properties of thermoplastic elastomers were studied. The results showed that as the amount of environmentally friendly butyl reclaimed rubber increased, the mechanical properties and compression set of thermoplastic elastomers decreased, the density increased, and the flame retardant performance changed little. When the amount of environmentally friendly butyl reclaimed rubber was 40 phr,the thermoplastic elastomer exhibited good comprehensive properties and high cost-effectiveness. The optimal comprehensive properties of the thermoplastic elastomer were achieved by using a blend of 20 phr chlorinated polyethylene and 10 phr styrene-ethylene-propylene-styrene copolymer as PVC modifiers. As the amount of fillers increased, the density, flame retardancy, and magnetic properties of thermoplastic elastomers were improved, but the mechanical properties decreased. When the amount of fillers was 120 phr,the comprehensive properties of thermoplastic elastomer were optimal, with a damping temperature range of -55~100 ℃,a loss factor ≥ 0.3,and good damping performance.
