Abstract: |
By drawing on the mechanism of electrophilic substitution reaction and combining with the molecular structure of hydrogenated styrene butadiene styrene block copolymer(SEBS),aluminum trichloride was added to eliminate the unsaturated double bonds in SEBS molecules. The effects of aluminum trichloride amount, reaction time and SEBS content(mass fraction) on eliminating unsaturated double bond reaction in SEBS molecules were investigated, and the toluene solution viscosity and low temperature resistance of the saturated SEBS were tested. The results showed that, the optimal reaction conditions for achieving complete elimination of unsaturated double bonds in SEBS molecules were as follows:the molar ratio of aluminum trichloride/double bonds in SEBS molecules was 1.2/1,the reaction time was 2 h,and the SEBS content was 10%.The fully saturated SEBS still had good fluidity and solubility, which was beneficial for polarity modification and related applications. There was no significant change in the glass transition temperature of the EB segment in SEBS molecules before and after saturation, and the fully saturated SEBS still maintained good low temperature performance. |
