Abstract:
The influence of liquid phase oil-extension(with the simultaneous incorporation of reinforcing filler silica) on the properties of functionalized solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber(SSBR) compounds was investigated. The results showed that compared to unextended functionalized SSBR(hereinafter referred to as SSBR) compound and vulcanizate, the Mooney viscosities of oil-extended(aromatic oil-extended and naphthenic oil-extended) SSBR compounds significantly decreased, and the processabilities were significantly improved. The Payne effects of oil-extended SSBR compounds and vulcanizates were weakened, indicating improved silica dispersion. The Shore A hardnesses of oil-extended SSBR vulcanizates decreased, tensile strengths changed little, tear strengths increased, compression fatigue temperature rise was reduced, and wear resistance was improved.Compared to aromatic oil-extended SSBR compound and vulcanizate, the naphthenic oil-extended compound exhibited a reduced Mooney viscosity, the vulcanizate displayed a increased 300% modulus, reduced compression fatigue temperature rise, improved wear resistance,10% decrease in loss factor at 60 ℃,and reduced rolling resistance.
