Abstract: |
Two novel organic antibacterial agents suitable for rubber materials, namely 2-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-ylthio)-N-(3,4-dichlorophenyl) acetamide(PMBT) and N-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-{[4-(4-pyridinyl)-2-thiazolyl]thio} acetamide(PMTT) were synthesised.Compared to conventional antibacterial agents, these two novel organic antibacterial agents not only exhibited a certain accelerating effect on vulcanization, but also possessed higher biosafety, stability and durability, effectively mitigated the damage to human body and pollution to environment caused by traditional antibacterial agents. These two organic antibacterial agents were applied to natural rubber(NR) compounds, and their influences on the properties of NR compounds were studied. The results indicated that the organic antibacterial agent PMBT and PMTT possessed certain accelerating effects on vulcanization, which could moderately enhance the crosslinking densities of NR vulcanizates, and improved the tensile strengths and tear strengths. They had little affects on the elongation at break and heat-oxgen aging resistance.By using 1.5 phr organic antibacterial PMBT and 1 phr organic antibacterial PMTT,effective inhibition of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in NR vulcanizates cound be achieved. |
