Abstract: |
Effect of the particle sizes of mica powder on the properties of damping butyl rubber(IIR)compounds with wide temperature ranges was investigated. The results showed that,mica powder could adsorb sulfur and accelerators,causing a delayed effect on the vulcanization of IIR compound and reducing the vulcanization rate,but effectively preventing the scorching.The physical properties of IIR vulcanizates reinforced with mica powder with particle size of 10~60 μm were better than those of IIR vulcanizate reinforced with carbon black N330.Compared with IIR vulcanizate reinforced with carbon black N330,the maximum loss factor(tanδmax)of IIR vulcanizate reinforced with mica powder was significantly improved.The damping temperature range of loss factor≥0.3 of IIR vulcanizate reinforced with mica powder of 60 μm was equivalent to that of IIR vulcanizate reinforced with carbon black N330,and both were wider than the damping temperature ranges of IIR vulcanizate reinforced with mica powder with other particle sizes.Moreover,the tanδmax of IIR vulcanizate reinforced with mica powder with particle size of 60 μm was the largest,the damping performance was the best.Both too large or too small particle sizes of mica powder were detrimental to the damping performance of IIR vulcanizate. |
