Abstract:
      The influence of different vulcanization systems on vulcanization characteristics of the brominated butyl rubber(BIIR) compounds was studied,and the action mechanism of each vulcanization system in the BIIR compound was analyzed.The results showed that,the BIIR compound with pure magnesium oxide vulcanization system could not occured crosslinking reaction,the BIIR compound with pure sulfur vulcanization system would underwent reversion,the vulcanization of the BIIR compound with pure zinc oxide vulcanization system was mainly carried out ion crosslinking reaction,and the ion crosslinking reaction rate of zinc oxide was faster than the free radical crosslinking reaction rate of sulfur.Compared with the BIIR compound with pure zinc oxide vulcanization system,the vulcanization of the BIIR compound with the zinc oxide/magnesium oxide vulcanization system was delayed,and magnesium oxide acted as scorch retarder.Compared with the BIIR compound with pure magnesium oxide vulcanization system,the vulcanization rate of the BIIR compound with sulfur/magnesium oxide vulcanization system was accelerated.Magnesium oxide not only acted as an activator to promote sulfur vulcanization,but also as an acid absorber to capture HBr.Magnesium oxide exhibited different effects in different systems,mainly due to the different vulcanization mechanisms of different systems.
