Abstract:
Low zinc activator SA-1 was used as the vulcanizing activator of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) compound, and the effects of its amount on the physical properties,hot-air aging resistance and dynamic mechanical properties of SBR vulcanizate were studied and compared with ordinary zinc oxide 997. The results showed that the dispersibility of activator SA-1 in the SBR matrix was better than that of zinc oxide 997.When the amount of activator was large(3 ~ 5 phr),the SBR vulcanizate with activator SA-1 had excellent physical properties and hot-air aging resistance. With the decrease of the amount of activator SA-1 and zinc oxide 997,the physical properties and hot-air aging resistance of the SBR vulcanizate were decreased. However, compared with zinc oxide 997,activator SA-1 could maintain the physical properties of the SBR vulcanizate when the amount of activator was small. It was also found that by replacing ordinary zinc oxide 997 with activator SA-1,the wet skid resistance of the SSBR vulcanizate was improved, while the rolling resistance did not increase significantly.
