Abstract:
The effects of blending a self-made sintering aid with flame retardant mica powder and glass powder on the physical properties and flame retardant properties of the silicone rubber,as well as the appearance morphology and residual mass rate after the ablation process, were studied. The results showed that, the sintering aid promoted the sintering of mica powder, and the mica powder/glass powder/sintering aid blend(4/1/1 of blend ratio) had a better sintering effect than that of the mica powder/glass powder blend(2/1 of blend ratio) and mica powder/sintering aid blend(2/1 of blend ratio). The addition of mica powder/glass powder/sintering aid blend reduced the tensile properties of the silicone rubber, but promoted the rapid formation of a homogeneous, dense, continuous, smooth and fine ceramicized hard shell of the silicone rubber at high temperature, which could block the heat and oxygen from entering the interior of the silicone rubber,so that the thermal decomposition rate of the silicone rubber was reduced, the oxygen index, vertical combustion grade and three-point bending strength were improved, and the residual mass rate after ablation was increased.
