Abstract:
The effects of high temperature diesel oil immersion on the properties of nitrile rubber(NBR) vulcanizates were studied. The mass change rates, volume change rates, densities, physical properties and glass transition temperatures of NBR vulcanizates that had been immersed in 120 ℃ 0# diesel oil(diesel oil for short) for 0,7,14 and 28 d were tested. The results showed that, high temperature diesel oil immersion had obvious effects on the properties of NBR vulcanizates. The tensile properties of NBR vulcanizates had the large decrease. The tensile strength and elongation at break of the NBR vulcanizates immersed in diesel oil for 28 d both decreased by more than 75%. In the early stage of immersing(0~7 d),the main change of the NBR vulcanizates was swelling. As the immersion time continued to prolong(7~14 d),the main change of the vulcanizates which affected the properties became the further cross-linking of the molecular chains. In the late stage(14~28 d),the dominant change of the vulcanizates was NBR molecular chain fracture.
