Abstract: |
Extruding-modified waste rubber powders(WRPs) was prepared by using two-screw extruder, and the influences of extrusion speed on the properties of WRPs/natural rubber(NR) blends were investigated. The results showed that, with the strong shear force by two-screw extruder, the crosslinking network of WRPs was wrecked. As the extrusion speed increased, the crosslinking densities of WRPs(vulcanizate) first dramatically decreased and then gradually tended to a stable value. The typical “sea-island” structure formed in the blend of extruding-modified WRPs and NR gradually disappeared according to the increasing decomposition of the WRPs’ network. A co-crosslinking network structure was formed between extruding-modified WRPs and NR.When the damage of crosslinking network of WRPs was appropriate, the crosslinking network between extruding-modified WRPs and NR was easy to form during vulcanization, and excessive degradation of WRPs was avoided,so that the WRPs/NR blends could obtain larger tensile strength and elongation at break. |
