Abstract: |
Nano Starch (NSt) was prepared by means of reversed-phase titration and used to prepare ethylene-co-vinyl acetate rubber/Starch (EVM/NSt) nanocomposites. The effects of methacryloxy propyl trimethoxyl silane (KH570) on the properties of nanocomposites were investigated. The results showed that, the average diameter of the prepared NSt was 130 nm. The NSt showed remarkable reinforcing effect on the EVM, the tensile strength (Ts) was enhanced from 2.9 MPa to 9.2 MPa with the NSt loading of 15 phr. What’s more, NSt could be grafted to EVM chains in the presence of KH570 by chemical bonding, improving the interfacial interaction between NSt fillers and EVM matrix. Besides, Nst played a role of second crosslink point to build up the dual-crosslinked system, leading to further increase of Ts. When 2.0 phr KH570 was added, the Ts of EVM/NSt nanocomposite was increased to 13.2 MPa and the elongation at break (Eb) was 600%. |
