Abstract: |
Ethylene propylene terpolymer/polypropylene(EPDM/PP) thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) were prepared by using dynamic vulcanization method. The effect of shearing strength, the amount of vulcanizing agent dicumyl peroxide (DCP) and cocuring agent triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) on the phase inversion and mechanical properties of TPV were investigated. The results showed that increasing shearing strength promoted the occurrence of phase inversion, but excessively high speed would lead to the failure of the phase inversion process. The performance of TPV increased first and then decreased with increasing the speed. Increasing dosage of S or TMTD appropriately could accelerate phase inversion, shortening phase inversion time. But the dosage of S on the promotion phase inversion existed an optimum value when a fixed dosage of TMTD, and vice versa. Correspondingly, the performance of TPV increased first and then decreased with increasing the dosage of S or TMTD. In addition, using accelerator CZ prolonged phase inversion time, even leading to the failure of phase inversion process when a fixed dosage of S and TMTD. |
