Abstract: |
The influence of ferric oxide, titanium oxide and zinc oxide on the properties of magnesium hydroxide filled flame retardant EPDM was investigated. The results showed that,as the addition level of metal oxides increased, the limiting oxygen index(LOI) first increased and then decreased, and the maximum LOI was obtained by using 1 phr ferric oxide or zinc oxide,or 1.5 phr titanium oxide. As the addition level of zinc oxide increased, the smoke density increased, but as the addition level of ferric oxide and titanium oxide increased, the smoke density increased gradually. The results of high tem-perature resistance experiment showed that, the residual weight of EPDM could be improved by adding metal oxides;the ferric oxide filled compound had more residual and the zinc oxide filled compound had less.As the addition level of metal oxides increased, the tensile strength and compression set decreased. |
