Abstract:
Thermal degradation and thermal-oxidative degradation of brominated natural rubbers(BNRs) from latex with different bromine mass fraction of 0.28 and 0.41 were investigated by FTIR and TG methods. The results showed that, thermal degradation of BNR was a two-step reaction, dehydrobromination occurred during the first step, and the weight-loss ratio was close to bromine content of BNR. The second step was at 475 ℃,and after that 6.9%~8.8% of stable residue remained. The thermal oxidative degradation of BNR was a three-step reaction. Both degradation temperature and weight-loss ratio of the first step were close to those of thermal degradation, and the decomposition products were mainly hydrogen bromide and a little carbon dioxide. The decomposition products of the second step and the third step were carbon dioxide, and the thermal oxidative degradation ratio reached to almost 100%.
