Abstract: |
Powdered acrylonitrile butadiene rubber(PNBR) was used as a low shrinkage additive to modify sheet moulding compounds(SMC) based on unsaturated polyester, and the effects of the addition level of PNBR on the mechanical properties of modified SMC were investigated. The results showed that PNBR could reduce the rate of shrinkage of modified SMC significantly and the shrinkage change could be controlled in the range of 3%~5%,PNBR could also improve the impact strength of SMC to a large extent;and the proper addition level of PNBR was 8~10 phr.The analyses by SEM and TEM proved the formation of a gradient interpenetrating polymer network(IPN) in phase boundaries between PNBR and the matrix of modified SMC,which could strengthen the interfacial adhesion of the two phases. |
