Abstract:
      The influence of magnesium hydroxide[Mg(OH)2],aluminium hydroxide[Al(OH)3] and their blend on physical properties and flame retardance of monocomponent RTV silicone rubber(RTV-1) was experimentally investigated.The results showed that the hardness,tensile strength and oxygen index(OI) of RTV-1 increased as the addition level of Mg(OH)2 increased,but the elongation at break decreased,and RTV-1 became flame-retarded when 50 phr Mg(OH)2 was used;the hardness,tensile strength and OI of RTV-1 filled by Al(OH)3 were higher than those filled by Mg(OH)2 in the same content,respectively,and RTV-1 was flame-retarded when 40 phr Al(OH)3 was added;when the addition level of Mg(OH)2/Al(OH)3 was 30 phr,RTV-1 became flame-retarded,and the optimum mass ratio of Mg(OH)2/Al(OH)3 was 1∶4.
