Abstract:
      In view of the reliability and safety of tire,an analysis has been made for the cause of the limitation which exists in the application of the traditional strength theory and fatigue strength theory based on the material mechanics to the structure design of tire,i.e.the material defects and the stress concentration thereby are not considered in the material mechanics. It is suggested that the fatigue strength theory based on the rupture mechanics should be applied to the structure design of tire because the stress concent ration in the defective or ununiform area of tire(e.g.the ends of belt and the ends of turn-up in bead area)can be calculated based on this theory;this theory should be applied to both structure design and formula design of the rubber goods used as the structural components.
