The ball-milled natural zeolite was modified by oxalic acid, followed by grafting with the silane coupling agent Si69.The modified zeolite was used to partially replace carbon black N330 in natural rubber(NR) to prepare a modified zeolite/NR composite, the structure of modified zeolite and the properties of the composite were studied. The results showed that oxalic acid could remove aluminum from the zeolite framework, reduce its polarity, decrease the likelihood of zeolite agglomeration and improve its dispersion in the rubber matrix. The reinforcing effect of the modified zeolite on NR was superior to that of unmodified zeolite but inferior to carbon black N330.As the amount of zeolite replacing carbon black N330 increased, the physical properties of the composite declined, but its compression heat generation and rolling resistance decreased. The wet skid resistance of the composite filled with 5 phr modified zeolite was better.
