Title:Status of the Indian Rubber Industry with Focus on Joint Venture with Non Automotive Rubber Goods Sector

Abstract:

India is set to become third largest economic power in the world due to the advantage of having the major working age population (16 – 64 years) by the year 2020 and also technical man power availability and robust industrial growth.

The growth of rubber industry both on Automobile Tyre segment and Non – tyre segment is expected to be high with per capita rubber consumption to rise from 1.05 kg to catch up China with 5.80 kg by the year 2020. With the standard of living going up and with the population level of over one billion there will be a tremendous growth in the entire spectrum of rubber goods industry.

In non - automotive Tyre segment, the growth on technically molded goods and auto components will be of a high level. Demand for rubber components based on specialty rubbers is met by imports and as such business opportunities by joint venture do exist particularly among the Asian countries with the Indian government relaxing the norms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) upto 100%. India is looking towards to invite entrepreneurs from the nearby Asian countries to meet the increasing demand both for the Indian market and export opportunities to industrialized countries in Europe and USA.
